"top five songs to listen to on a monday morning."

Hmm. Good question. Since I usually listen to NPR every morning until I get on campus, I am going to imagine what I’d put on if I had a day off and was just hanging with my records.
1. Sigur Rós - Glósóli (Dave Fridmann mix)
Starting off with something a bit slow and ambient that crescendos to epic destruction seems right to me for a Monday. Not many people have this version, but being a friend of Dave’s, and recording at his studio, I was able to nab this off the shared music drive. I think this version is superior to the one on the album.
2. Nada Surf - The Way You Wear Your Head
Next up, I’d play something to really get my ass moving, and a short song which I could sing along to in the shower. This would also help me time my shower so I didn’t take a long one. Right now I use my teapot boiling as my timer…
3. The Appleseed Cast - Steps and Numbers
Taking it down a notch as I prepare my breakfast, but still makes me sing and dance as I spread the cream cheese on my bagel.
4. Four Tet - Slow Jam
While eating my breakfast, I’d want something with a beat, but has a good slow groove with no words. This way I can think about my day as I eat a bagel and drink some tea.
5. The Promise Ring - Why Did We Ever Meet?
I want to hear something that will make me smile for a closer, and this song is perfect. As I brush my teeth, make my bag lunch, put my shoes on, and pack up my backpack, I’d be singing along with this at the top of my lungs. To me, it is the perfect last song to start a week.
