Special Post - The Cannoli Donut

Donuts Delite
Culver Rd. at Empire Blvd., Rochester 14609

If you live in the Rochester area, I’m guessing you’ve seen a Donuts Delite commerical that features their cannoli donut. It’s like a 15 second spot that basically says “come try our cannoli donut”…and that was more than enough to convince me that I needed to get there. The cannoli donut is simply a donut with cannoli filling. Think jelly donut minus the jelly and granulated sugar, plus cannoli filling and powdered sugar. I didn’t get to find out much about the filling or the history of the cannoli donut but I was so excited to try it.

And it was amazing. Possibly the best pastry/dessert I’ve ever had. It is such a great combination of the indulgent things that I love. The cannoli filling was awesome. It was definitely a cheese filling - probably ricotta - and there were even a few chocolate chips hidden inside.  It was sweet, smooth, and creamy.  The donut itself was buttery and flaky. Both parts were great and in combination were perfect. I would love to meet the genius behind it.

I can’t imagine anyone not liking the cannoli donut. You have to try it.

This donut was spectacular.
